Many Countries Desperatly Need Genetic Regulations

This article by Mats Engström discusses the need for new legislation in all first world countries to control access to genetic information. New technology will soon allow scientists to map any individuals genetic code quickly and cheaply. This breakthrough will give patients an opportunity to know their vulnerability to many diseases and conditions. While the positive repercussions are countless, the negatives are just as plentiful. If this situation goes unchecked, genetic discrimination could run rampant, affecting insurance rates and job openings, not to mention mental repercussions to the patient. Imagine you knew you would die at 35.
